About Us

What We're All About

Our five pillars reflect the ways we work to support our communities through connection, wellness, creativity, leadership, autonomy, and joy.

Community & Belonging

We create affirming spaces where our community can feel seen, welcomed, valued, and free to be themselves. We believe belonging is essential to well-being and that community is built through trust, mutual care, and shared experiences. Our programs create opportunities for people to connect through joy and develop lasting connections. Through gatherings like Groove & Glow, we bring people together through wellness and movement. We also create opportunities for relationships to grow into chosen family and community support. Our work helps reduce isolation while making space for authentic connection and belonging. We believe no one should have to navigate life without community. Community is not a luxury, and belonging is not an extra. Star Dust Co. is committed to creating spaces where people can show up fully, connect with others who affirm them, and build community together.

Health & Wellness

We believe wellness encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of people. The spaces we create offers the opportunity for our community to care for themselves without shame or judgment of where they are on their journey to wellness. Our programming makes space for accessibility to movement, rest, mindfulness, reflection, connection, and self-care. Through programs like Groove & Glow and Sanctuary, we create opportunities to slow down, recharge, move our bodies, and reconnect with ourselves and our community. Through T-BOMBs, we support wellness and connection specifically among Black transgender veterans. Our work reduces barriers to wellness while creating spaces where people can care for their bodies, minds, and spirits in community because rest is care. Movement is care. Connection is care. Wellness is care.

Joy, Connection & Culture

Through cultural celebrations, Pride programming, seasonal events, brunches, dry socials, creative programming, and community gatherings, we create spaces where people can simply enjoy being together. Our activations make room for light-hearted connection, cultural expression, and celebration without requiring every gathering to center crisis, education, or advocacy. Events like Queer Movie & Crafts Night offer low-pressure opportunities to build relationships through shared activities and creativity. We also collaborate with organizations such as LNKD Community, The Mahogany Project, and Montrose Grace Place to expand opportunities for connection, cultural programming, resource-sharing, and collective care. Through our participation in the Q.U.E.E.N.S. of Houston coalition, we strengthen relationships across Houston's queer and transgender community and contribute to a more connected network of organizations. Our relationship with Montrose Grace Place also creates opportunities to connect with LGBTQ+ youth and young adults through shared meals, consistent presence, and community support. Across our programming and partnerships, we foster an environment for people to build friendships, find chosen family, share resources, and develop relationships that extend beyond a single event. We believe creativity, culture, and connection are essential to thriving in a world that wants to erase us and our work creates space for our communities to experience liberation through joy.

Education & Leadership

We believe knowledge and leadership already exist within our communities. As Black transgender people, gender diverse people, and queer women we aren't typically centered in more offbeat conversations and education. In our spaces, we create opportunities for community members to share what they know and learn from people that look like  and experience the world in similar ways as themselves. We encourage community members to contribute in ways that feel authentic to them. Through community-led discussions, workshops, skill-sharing, educational sessions, speakers, facilitators, and peer learning, we create space for community knowledge to be valued and uplifted. We recognize expertise in many forms, including professional and lived experience, cultural knowledge, creative skills, and specialized interests. When someone has knowledge they want to share, we help create opportunities for them to step into roles as educators, facilitators, speakers, artists, practitioners, and community leaders. We support emerging leaders by helping them develop ideas, gain experience, build confidence, and connect their knowledge with people who can benefit from it. We also encourage organic leadership by creating opportunities for people to share ideas, facilitate conversations, support others, and help shape our programming. Our work values contribution and lived experience equal to traditional credentials and titles. We believe leadership can start with an idea, a conversation, an act of care, or simply having something valuable to share and we shine light on those characteristics and encourage our community to grow in ways they may not have considered possible.

Sex-Positive Enrichment & Reproductive Justice

Bodily autonomy, sexual freedom, and the ability to make informed choices about our bodies and intimate lives are essential to reproductive justice. We have created a community-centered space where Black transgender people, gender diverse people, and queer women are centered and can explore sexuality, pleasure, and their relationship with their body and identities without shame or judgment. Black & Qwinkyis our sex-positive space where we provide safe, sane, and consensual exploration of the kink and BDSM lifestyle. Our events in this space create the opportunity for open, honest, and shame-free conversations about bodies, desire, pleasure, boundaries, communication, intimacy, and sexual experiences. These spaces encourage participants to better understand their bodies, communicate their desires and boundaries, and engage with sexuality on their own terms. We recognize that Black transgender people, gender-diverse people and queer women often experience shame, stigma, discrimination, and systems that seek to control or police their bodies, identities, and sexuality. This space is a powerful way to challenge that stigma and affirm our right to make choices for ourselves. We believe pleasure is not frivolous, bodily autonomy is not negotiable, and sexual freedom is part of reproductive justice.
